Why do we find Illuminati and Freemasonry symbols like the triangle with one eye (for the Illuminati) and the all-seeing eye (for freemasonry), in cartoons as well?
Just a short note about the Illuminati: The name Illuminati, which means The Enlightened (ones) historically refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on 1 May 1776 in Bavaria, which is now part of Germany. This means that this secret society also emerged during the same period of freemasonry, the era of the Enlightenment. Among their stated goals of society, we find their aim to combat religious influence in public life. Their general statutes stated “The order of the day is to put an end to the machinations of the purveyors of injustice, to control them without dominating them.”
The Illuminati were outlawed by edict in 1784, 1785, 1787, and 1790 by Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria, with the support of the Catholic Church.
In the years since, the group has been widely vilified by conservative and religious critics who claim the Illuminati, as a secret society and movement, has remained underground up till this day through bloodlines.
In subsequent usage, the term “Illuminati” has been used to refer to various organizations that are said to be a continuation of the original Bavarian Illuminati. These groups have frequently been accused of plotting to control world affairs by masterminding events and planting agents in governments and corporations in order to gain political power and influence and establish a New World Order. The Illuminati are depicted as lurking in the shadows and pulling the strings and levers of power, that is, the shadow government. Conservative and religious critics claim that the Illuminati also means The Enlightened ones (by Satan), and hence, are Satan’s minions.
If nowadays they do not exist, and all of the above is just another ‘conspiracy theory’, can someone explain why the symbols of the Illuminati, together with that of freemasonry, are permeated and inserted in cartoons?
