Journal.mt deletes Terrence Portelli’s comment to its article of hate speech four times and accuses him of verbal abuse

Terrence Portelli has commented on Journal.mt’s blog of a certain Franke Camille, titled “Off the Hinge” which not only misunderstood the whole message of Portelli, but also went on a rant of hate speech against him.

Terrence Portelli replied with a comment, citing even the two articles on this site, which showed how Times of Malta has given the public twisted truths and twisted facts and a half-baked story of what Portelli had actually stated.

Terrence Portelli has reached out to this site and explained that he replied four times with the same comment. Two were put through the comment section and two through the article section. And yet each time, his comment was removed. Screenshots below.

So much for The Journal to claim that it is designed to provide a space “where people can come together to discuss and analyse news, current affairs, and relevant issues” whose goal is to “provide a multifaceted and open-minded insight into matters that affect our lives.” And yet, the Journal is not providing a space for those who are attacked to defend themselves.

But then, a comment was accepted, but the editor added a note which reads:

“Editor’s note: This comment has been heavily edited to remove verbal abuse aimed at fellow journalists working with Times of Malta.”

Verbal abuse? There is no verbal abuse. How about the hate speech article, dear Sandro Mangion, the editor of The Journal? Isn’t that verbal abuse?

This is a situation of aggravation on the news, in the suit where the greatest weapon is not a gun or a bomb but the control of information from the press, so to manipulate all the minds that consume it.

But we will never be silenced.
