In the Biblical view, there’s only one race, Adam’s race. So, next time you fill out a census for the United States government, put ‘Other. Adam’s race’ and you’ll give some bureaucrat in Washington D.C. real trouble.
We have different people groups, different languages, but we only have one race and how do we explain that? Well, the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. People came off the ark. God told them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. They did the fruitful and multiply part. They said no, we’re not going to fill the earth, and they stayed. They built a tower. They descended into idolatry. The tower was probably for the worship of the sun, moon, and stars and for the sacrifice and God said, well, you’re not going to finish that building project. And so, He confused their one language and supernaturally created different languages forcing people to move apart and what we know of genetics today, that event would divide the gene pool, the genetic information. Recessive genes would become dominant and it’s easy to explain where the different superficial physical characteristics come from.
Well, in 2000 the human genome projects finished mapping the human genome. And the scientists involved in that made an unanimous announcement. It’s a biological fact that there’s only one race. There’s no scientific basis for talking about a black race, a white race, a brown race, a yellow race. There’s only one race. If everybody believed what the Bible said, we wouldn’t have any racism.
But Charles Darwin was very racist. He said this in his book ‘The Descent of Man’:
‘At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes …will no doubt be exterminated.The break between man and his nearest allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilized state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the negro or Australian [aborigine] and the gorilla.’
