Russia is developing a social rating system based on the Chinese model

The Social University’s authors claim that the system will monitor everything you do, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, winning state awards, credit history, posting on social media, holding public office, participating in sports, having a criminal record, and much more. A “rating”—two two-digit numbers that indicate a person’s social status and level—will be determined by combining all the data.

In an article by the media portal Pravda.ru, titled “RSSU creates a national social rating of a citizen,” subtitled “The common phrase “Black Mirror is becoming a reality” about total control over a citizen and his “rating” is no longer sarcasm” we read:

In Russia, they really began to create a national social rating of the citizen, predicted by the largest banks by 2030-2035.

RGSU students were given the task of developing a social rating system for Russia, modeled on China. It is proposed to introduce tracing paper from the Chinese experience in Russia. Young professionals will participate in testing the “We” platform, which creates a social rating for Russians.

It is planned that the social rating will be linked to SNILS, TIN, passport and telephone number. At the initial stages, these platforms will also use data (according to various sources) of taxis, banks and regional information systems.

This idea is already being quite successfully implemented in China, where a citizen with a low social rating in test regions simply cannot perform certain actions: take out tickets, loans, check into hotels, receive subsidies, get a good job or study, etc.

It looks really impressive. According to commercials shown in China, a person with a low rating cannot fly, get a hotel room or even get banking services. He won’t get a loan either.

A number of provinces in China are already testing this tool with all their might, since it is really convenient for the authorities, police, banks, employers, doctors, and even those around them (there are radars to see if there are malicious alimony workers, debtors, and antisocial citizens nearby).

The UK government also recognized the Chinese experience as positive and plans to analyze

  • citizen messages on social networks,
  • police records,
  • CCTV Cameras,
  • local government records,
  • education records,
  • medical records
  • and even online shopping.

In Australia, you will now need to obtain a “digital identification” to access the Internet. There is only one access to cryptocurrency trading there – through a good social rating.

In Russia, the SBER cybersecurity laboratory at the end of last year published a report “Forecast of the influence of promising technologies.” Among the “technologies that will be implemented within five to ten years” is the notorious social rating.

In addition, the State Duma adopted a law on biometrics and the database of genetic information of citizens. And before that, our fellow citizens heard about the upcoming social rating of Russians, no less, from TV presenter Dmitry Kiselyov .

“At first, such a system will only work as a plus and give some bonuses, but later it will be integrated with government databases (tax, traffic police, bailiffs, courts, travel without leaving, conscription, debts, medicine, transport, etc.),” – experts share.

Let us recall that the very idea of a “social credit system” is a proposal to provide citizens with a certain amount of points, like passengers or taxi drivers (or establishments in search engines).

Further, by his actions and misdeeds, behavior (volunteering or hooliganism), timely payment of loans, fines, alimony, housing and communal services, medical examinations, behavior on the road, etc., a person can add to his rating or subtract it.”
