How does the New Age Religion regard Christ?

In another blog, we have seen how New Agers teach about ‘Christ-Consciousness’.

Yogapedia defines “Christ-consciousness” as: Christ Consciousness is an awareness of the higher self as part of a universal system. Although it can be interpreted in a number of ways, a common understanding is that Christ Consciousness is the state of consciousness in which a person has found self-realization and unity with God or the Divine. It may also be used as a synonym for the yogic and Hindu concept of samadhi, or deep spiritual bliss.Although Christ Consciousness is not intended to relate solely to the personality of Jesus Christ, its combination of Christian language with Eastern religious and philosophical concepts make it a controversial term to some.

As a result, the New Age term and concept of “Christ-consciousness” are not exclusively Christian or about the Jesus Christ of the Bible.
Instead, the New Age Movement believes that anyone, regardless of religion or spiritual background, can achieve “Christ-consciousness” by employing specific New Age techniques.

New Agers believe that Jesus Christ was simply a teacher and a common man who “self-realized” like Buddha, Krishna, Confucius, or Gandhi. They reject Jesus Christ as God’s only begotten Son who came to die on the cross for mankind’s sins (John 3:16-17). They deny that Jesus is God, that He is eternal, and that He existed before the creation of the world (John 1:1-3). As a result, the New Age Movement does not regard the Biblical Jesus Christ as the Savior or Messiah of mankind.

As a result, the nature and character of the New Age Jesus differ from the true Jesus Christ mentioned in the Bible. According to New Age ideology, Jesus was a common man who attained “Christ-consciousness,” the pinnacle of New Age perfection or self-realization.

New Age beliefs about salvation can be quite contradictory. Most New Agers, however, do not believe that Jesus is the only way to God or Heaven. They have no faith in the Gospel. The New Age movement believes that there are numerous paths to God or paradise. Others believe that man is not in need of salvation or a Savior. Some people are universalists. Their core belief is that because man is divine or has the capacity to become divine on his own, he does not require a Savior. They believe that man is inherently good and that he is constantly striving for self-improvement.

The New Age Movement involves spiritual but occult beliefs. The Bible teaches us that consulting the dead, psychic readings, divination, astrology and any other kind of this practice does not revolve around God.

In Deuteronomy 18:10-12 we read: “There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a wizard or a necromancer, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.”

In Leviticus 19:31 God says: “Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God”

The Scriptures also teach us that there is only one God. Therefore a human being is not a “god” and neither can a human being become like God. Humans are a creation of God and humans ought to worship the one and only living God. In Exodus 20:3 God says: “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

The Bible also tells us that there is no other person or entity that is like God. Therefore God is unique and there is no one who is like Him.
In Isaiah 46:9 God says: “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.”

The Bible also warns against false teachers and even false religions that preach a “different gospel,” a “different Jesus,” and a “different spirit.”
People who believe in a different Jesus than the one described and portrayed in the Bible are represented by the New Age movement. The New Age movement does not believe in Jesus Christ’s divine nature and character as depicted in the Bible. And please note that we find such false teachers even among those who say are preaching about Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:4 says: For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

True success and prosperity cannot be obtained by engaging in demonic practices. It also does not come from occult self-improvement techniques like the law of attraction or seeking psychic readings.True blessing comes from having a relationship with God and obeying His word. True success comes from putting God in charge of your life. True blessing is not always associated with material things like money and possessions; rather, it is associated with our salvation and relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:3 says: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

The Bible says that man is sinful and is therefore in need of a Savior – Jesus Christ and without Him, people are headed for eternal punishment to experience the wages of his sins. However man can escape hell and receive salvation as a free gift “by grace through faith in Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Acts 4:12 says the following about salvation being exclusively through Jesus Christ: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

New Age beliefs and practices are demonic and dangerous. New Age beliefs give people the false illusion of power and freedom, but it is known to eventually and subtly destroy lives. Ultimately, such beliefs drive people away from God and bind New Agers to a spiritual bond.
Escaping the spiritual deception associated with the New Age movement is only possible when we have a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ and understand God’s word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

To add insult to injury, the New Age Religion is also making up its own Christianity and so-called ‘Christian techniques’ in order to deceive Christians:
