With the latest murder of another crypto mogul, that of 41-year-old Christain Peev, it means that the world has witnessed 5 deaths of crypto kings in a span of few months.
“Christian Peev had graduated from a university in the US and built a fortune off of crypto investments. He was a regular visitor to high-society parties and events before he was murdered, and it is believed this is where he met his alleged killer, who was working as a bartender.”
According to ongoing investigation, he was reportedly killed between 8th and 9th August. His body parts were found by horrified plumbers in a sewer after they were called to clear a blocked drain in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia.
Mr Peev was allegedly killed with a dumbbell, chopped to pieces in the bathroom of his apartment, and with some body parts being flushed down the toilet. Those parts that could not be flushed away, like his head and some of his bones, were buried.
It was on 10th August when his cousin filed a report, saying that his cousin had disappeared since two days before.
After checking Peev’s two phones, investigators checked on all contacts he had on the day he was last seen and one of such contacts was his friend Vesco Valchinov. Valchinov and Peev had met in a bar around five to six years ago, since Peev had a lot of money and regularly took his friends out to bars. In a bar, he met Valchinov who worked as a bartender. According to local media, Mr Peev even helped Valchinov do business with cryptocurrency.
With Valchinov becoming a major suspect, a camera was seized from his block from whose footage it was established that he and Christian had entered that block on 8th August.
“The next day, the suspect killer went out alone. He came home and went out again several times during the day. But Christian was not seen. Another man, named Konstantin Subotinov, allegedly helped the killer hide the dismembered corpse of the victim.
When he was detained he admitted that he helped the killer to hide the parts of the victim’s body by taking some of them with his car to Vitosha and burying them there. He buried the head and skeleton but the more easy to flush away fresh from the body was put in the toilet.
Valchinov was arrested after fleeing to a hotel in Vitosha, but his location was tracked on his phone and he was arrested.”
“Investigators suspect that the motive of the murder is related to money. And police are not ruling out the idea that the former bartender was jealous of his friend. The investigation is ongoing.”
