Dom Mintoff – the series in his memory (2)

Dom Mintoff was born to Wenzu u Ċetta Mintoff and was a sibling among nine children. His father was a chef with the Navy but later also worked in Castille. He was born in a very difficult and different period in Malta, which he called ‘qamel u baqq’ due to poverty and lack of a local, sanitary environment.

This footage also recounts how Dom Mintoff gave up his political seat; his love for sports especially swimming, playing boċċi, table tennis, windsurfing and horse-riding and how he is well known for the social services that he brought about. It also tells of Mintoff’s contradictory decisions and Malta’s liberation from the British Empire.
