Croatian MEP Mislav Kolakušić on how new cars will become unaffordable for the middle class while electricity prices will explode:

“Dear colleagues dear citizens leaders of the automobile industry especially Mazda and Toyota tell us that as politicians we should not interfere in the development of technology and force electric cars because this will completely stop the development of that industry. Today we are forcing one cable and one type of auto industry. That is unacceptable. Stopping development is impossible. The second thing that will happen with the introduction of tens of millions of electric cars the price will skyrocket. It will cost like gold and the poor citizens will no longer be able to afford it. We will return to the age of fireplaces and candles. Has anyone in this parliament calculated how much electricity is needed to power all the cars. Thank you.”
