For the sake of turning everything organic into a show of the LGBTIQA+ agenda we must cancel everything that is deemed offensive to the LGBTIQA+ activists. But then what the public deems offensive is not cancelled in particular if the LGBTIQA+ community does not disapprove it. I call this the hypocrisy of an agenda.
In my previous articles I have already discussed the monument in augurated in Boston in honour of Dr Martin Luther King. The unveiling of this monument on 13thJanuary caused a backlash from the general public but not from the LGBTIQA+ community:
This monument in Boston reminded me of a similar sculpture that was erected in Malta some decades ago exactly at Luqa and named “Colonna Mediterranea“. Daphne Caruana Galizia had called it “Akbar Zib”. The Luqa monument was created by the artist Paul Vella Critien who dumbed his critics as “ignorant” and “uneducated” while mayor at the time John Schembri described it as “vulgar” and “embarrassing”.
Mr. Critien had said that his creation “was not a phallic symbol but a modern representation of a symbol dating back to ancient Egypt ” [yet it wasn’t called Colonna Egiziana!]. One needs to remember that this phallic monument was inaugurated prior to the visit to Malta of Pope Benedict XVI and was placed on the road that was going to be part of the papal route. This fact continued to fuel the controversy. It is interesting to remind the reader that the artist defended himself by adding that the Pope “would look at it as a work of art. [He] is not the man in the street”. Mr. Critien forgot to add that a penis is a penis Egyptian or not and whether you are a man in the street or the Pope a penis is still identifiable!
This monument was erected during the time of the Nationalist administration. Many found it offensive but still it was not removed. The hypocrisy lies in the fact that today monuments that are deemed offensive to the LGBTIQA+ community or any other minority group are being banned and removed. This is our biggest modern hypocrisy because if something is deemed offensive by the rest then all kind of excuses are given as to why it should be accepted and normalised! And one is dumbed “ignorant” and “uneducated” if one tries to argue differently from what the LGBTIQA+ or the other minority groups want to dictate.
Perhaps what is missing from the Luqa monument is the LGBTIQA+ flag on top of it. At the end of the day the monument might serve as a flag pole!
And yet even though there was this backlash in the past no government ever decided to pull this monument down.
