In another blog I have shown how in some of the Swiss cantons citizens are now being asked to report each other in case a neighbour decides to heat his home above 19 degrees Celsius.
Now the Daily Mail reported that “Switzerland is considering jailing anyone who heats their rooms above 19C for up to three years if the country is forced to ration gas due to the Ukraine war.”[1]
The government could also give fines to all those who violate the proposed new regulations. In an interview with Blick Markus Sporndli a spokesman for the Federal Department of Finance explained that daily fines could start at 30 Swiss Francs (£26). He went on to say that the maximum fine could be 3 000 Swiss Francs (£2 667).
Companies that intentionally exceed their gas quotas may face penalties. Furthermore according to the potential measures temperatures in gas-heated buildings cannot exceed 19 degrees Celsius (66.2 degrees Fahrenheit) with water heated to 60 degrees Celsius (140F).
Blick also stated that radiant heaters would be prohibited and that saunas and swimming pools would be required to remain cold.
The measures are outlined in the Federal Law on National Economic Supply which is referred to in an official document by the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (EAER).
According to the report the proposed new measures are expected to spark challenges and disputes keeping courts busy and the government dealing with a new “grey area.”
Concerning the potential new measures Swiss cantons had until September 22 to submit their concerns.
This is the same insanity that Californians have been subjected to in recent weeks with the threat of rolling blackouts: a politically motivated “energy” agenda that results in the destabilization of reliable baseline energy production. More nuclear power is required not less. More NatGas generating gas is required not fewer. Finally we need a way to generate our own power at the point of use without relying on energy barons who control our lives.
