Scientists believe the coronavirus vaccine is to blame for some transplant recipients’ rejection of their new organ.
According to a new study[1]published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine on the 2ndof August and entitled “Characteristics and Clinical Ocular Manifestations in Patients with Acute Corneal Graft Rejection after Receiving the Covid-19 vaccine: a systematic review” immunized patients who have undergone the procedure of acute corneal allografts is being rejected by the same recipients. According to the researchers the underlying cause could be a systemic inflammatory response triggered by the post-jab shot.
The cornea is a person’s eye’s outermost layer. Corneal grafts are procedures used to repair a damaged cornea. The procedure is widely regarded as one of the most successful organ transplant procedures with low rejection rates. It improves the appearance of the diseased cornea restores vision and relieves eye pain.
In a total of 23 eyes which were evaluated from 21 patients who had undergone corneal graft procedures Japanese researchers found that graft rejection occurred anywhere from one day to six weeks after vaccination in all patients including some who had the procedure done twenty years ago.
The study authors wrote in the paper:
““As the virus continues to spread additional booster COVID-19 vaccines are expected. Therefore proper follow-up of corneal allograft recipients and interventions to prevent corneal allograft rejection after they received the COVID-19 may be crucial.”
It is of no doubt that this has added an additional challenge for the vaccinated population.
Will the vaccinated bodies also reject other kinds of transplants of major organs which will lead to not only other repercussions but also death?
