Socialism, a race doomed to fail

A college professor of economics said she had never failed a single student previously, but that she had failed a whole class recently.

The class had argued that socialism was effective, a great equalizer, and that no one would be wealthy or impoverished.

The lecturer responded, “All right. This class will be participating in an experiment. Everyone will receive an average grade based on all of their grades. No one will receive an A or a failing grade.”

Everyone received a B once the first test’s averaged grades were determined. Students who studied little were joyful, and those who studied a lot were upset. When the time came for the second test, the students who had studied little decided to study even less, and the students who had studied hard thought they would also want to get away with it, so they studied less. A D was the second-best average score. Nobody was content. The average resulted in an F on the third test.

As the exams went on, the results didn’t get any better because of the finger-pointing, squabbling, and accusations that led to negative emotions. No one would pursue education for the sake of other people. They were shocked to learn that they had all failed, and the professor predicted that socialism would eventually crumble because great rewards come with enormous labor.

But when the government takes away all the reward, no one will try or want to succeed.

This is socialism, a race to the bottom, which is doomed to fail.
