Having a woman from Cameroon representing Maltese women in Miss Universe is racist!

Last Thursday, Beatrice Njoya became the oldest contestant to be crowned Miss Universe Malta at the age of 39.

No one contested that Beatrice Njoya is not beautiful. She is a very beautiful woman and I agree that there is no harm in having a married woman with children in such a contest.

But, excuse me, is she Maltese? Is her ethnicity Maltese? Does she have Maltese parents or grandparents, or a Maltese bloodline? Are we Maltese black?

Her victory received backlash from the majority and it is very understandable.

But here come the oracles, mocking you, to persuade you otherwise:

“Alan Darmanin, national director of Miss Universe Malta, explained that, according to the competition rules, a person must have lived in a country for six consecutive months to be able to represent it.” I did not know that living in a country for six consecutive months makes you a national of that country.

“In a Facebook post, Parliamentary Secretary for Equality Rebecca Buttigieg noted this was not the first time that Malta was represented, in international competitions, by non-Maltese who resided here. Such competitions had rules that applied to all participating countries. ‘Any comment about the skin colour of the winner… is offensive,’ she wrote. Rebecca Buttigieg, I did not come across any comment about the skin colour. But Beatrice Njoya is not Maltese and with your comments, dear Parliamentary Secretary for Equality, you are definitely not embracing equality for the Maltese women. And the Maltese had the same reaction when 23-year-old Teresa Ruglio, originally from Venezuela, won the crown.

I feel sorry for the Maltese participants. This was a stab in their back, for sure.

Miss Multicultural Universe this year lost its authenticity. Beatrice Njoya is only a Cameroonian representing my country, but not Maltese women. Forget about culture preservation. They are shovelling down our throat that foreign women are better than us. What else do we want from life? They come to live here, steal our work opportunities and now they are winning beauty pageants. This is multiculturalism for you. And in order for you to accept this reality, they gave you a rare example of a black woman who happened to be beautiful, who has a decent and a well-paid job in igaming [how many Maltese women have tried to work in this industry and were not even called for an interview?] and lives in a beautiful apartment.

Having a woman from Cameroon representing Maltese women in Miss Universe is definitely racist against Maltese women. But for the demi-gods, it is you who are.
