What I would like to ask the MUT and the Labour government is if this is truly a way to involve educators in the sectoral agreement, with the premise that changes are done accordingly, or if the agreement has been signed already, in whatever is left of democracy in this distorted society and country of ours.
The reason being that this site has received information that before the last agreement was signed, they were given a survey which they were told to fill in, while showing their opinion about the contents of such agreement. And while the deadline of this said survey was say on Friday, on Monday educators were presented with the new sectoral agreement, without any changes in its contents, changes which educators ticked in the survey provided. They were against the LOFs for example, because they knew that these are just a cover up of the half yearly examinations which were removed by the Education Ministry, only to be replaced by these LOFs which are just another name for tests or more homework or more classwork to the additional homework and classwork which teachers gave throughout the scholastic year.
So the common thought among educators has it, that the sectoral agreement was already signed because whatever they complained about in the survey was not taken into consideration. Besides the fact that the sectoral agreement was out too early after the deadline of the survey, which makes it impossible for survey’s results to be worked out and examined.
And so I repeat the question to the patriarchy in the MUT [Marco and Chris] and the patriarchy in the Education Ministry [Minister Clifton Grima] if this is truly a way to involve educators in the latest sectoral agreement, with the premise that changes are done accordingly, or if the agreement has been signed already, in whatever is left of democracy in this distorted society and country of ours.
