Who is Jeffrey Epstein?

Jeffrey Edward Epstein, an American financier and sexual offender, was born on January 20th and died on August 10th, 2019. Despite not having a college degree, Epstein started his career as a teacher at the Dalton School after growing up in New York City. He left the school and went into the banking and finance industry, holding a variety of positions at Bear Stearns before launching his own company. Epstein cultivated a social elite and attracted numerous women and children, whom he and his associates molested sexually.

Police in Palm Beach, Florida, started looking into Epstein’s case in 2005 after a parent claimed that he had molested her daughter, then 14 years old. Thirty-six girls, some as young as fourteen, had been named by federal officials as the victims of alleged sexual abuse by Epstein. In 2008, a Florida state court found Epstein guilty of both obtaining a child for prostitution and requesting a prostitute. As a result of a contentious plea agreement, he was found guilty of only these two offenses and spent nearly thirteen months in jail with significant work release.

On July 6, 2019, Epstein was taken into custody once more on federal charges related to the sex trafficking of minors in New York and Florida. On August 10, 2019, he passed away in his prison cell. According to the medical examiner’s ruling, he committed suicide by hanging. Numerous theories have been born out of public skepticism regarding Epstein’s actual cause of death, which has been contested by his attorneys. The skepticism grew considering the fact that on August 29, 2019, a judge dismissed all criminal charges against Epstein because his passing prevented any criminal charges from being brought against him. According to media reports, he committed suicide by hanging himself in his jail cell with an orange noose he fashioned from “a sheet or a shirt.” According to his brother, Mark Epstein, he was murdered in prison by the United States federal government. Mark cited a doctor attending the autopsy as saying that Jeffrey’s death did not “look like a suicide” but was rather “a homicide,” since the chief pathologist, Barbara Samson, who had declared death by suicide, had not attended the autopsy herself. Death by suicide or death by homicide would truly make a difference since, when death by suicide is declared, investigations stop. In addition, neither the emergency medical technicians nor the hospital personnel where his body was shipped, were interviewed.

Epstein had been friends with British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell for many years. In 2021, she was found guilty on federal charges in the United States of sex trafficking and for assisting Epstein in obtaining girls, one of whom was 14 years old.
