Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel explains why Churches have gone woke – part two

“As I always mention in our talks, there are two pillars that need to be vividly clear in the church and present in the church of the Lord Jesus. One pillar – true love and the other one – true humility. Now true love and true humility in the 21st century church have diminished. I won’t dare to say it’s gone, God forbids, because if it’s totally gone, then the Lord is definitely going to come and judge us all. But it has diminished and the percentage is very low.

True love – that is the definition in a nutshell of who God is and what God is. God is love and humility. What is associated with love is knowledge. But what is associated with humility is wisdom. So therefore when we say that God is love and humility, we are at the same time saying He is knowledge and wisdom. What leads to love is knowledge but what leads to wisdom is humility. The problem of the church in general is that it lacks humility, therefore wisdom, and it lacks the true knowledge of God, therefore, true divine love. This is why Christianity, in the 21st century, is weak.

Let me be very clear and I say this with love and humility, to everyone – Christian and non-Christian alike, I love everyone, I respect everyone, but my Jesus is my God and I’m willing to die for this. No one can ever take it away from me. When God gave it to me, only God can. No one can. When we compare the Lord Jesus to any religious figure, whether it be Islamism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, and all the isms, that should have been wasms. When we compare the Lord Jesus, there is no comparison whatsoever for one pivotal foundational point and that is – with all of the respect to all the religious figures out there, let’s say they came up with wonderful morals, principles, ethics, values, to humanity. The ultimate they would have been able to achieve with the human race, was changing a bad person into a good person. This is the ultimate these religious figures could have achieved – changing a bad person into a good person. The Lord Jesus did not come to change a bad person into a good person. He came to change a dead person into a living one. In this, no one comes anywhere near Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Period.”

Emmanuel Romanous: “So a good argument for Christianity is that there is written testimony that Jesus performed miracles while other prophets did not.”

Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel: “The ultimate miracle the Lord Jesus performed is changing the human condition and the human heart. No one can. Only God can. I’ll give you an example. When we read in the gospel according to St. John, in chapter 11, when the Lord Jesus goes to raise Lazarus from the dead. Now Lazarus was dead for four days and the Lord waited deliberately for those four days to make sure that he’s really dead. Right? There is no two ways about it and there’s no chance to come back. So Lazarus was dead, rotting in the grave. The Lord Jesus came and raised Lazarus. Now to humanity this is the ultimate miracle. Wow! We have never ever heard yet to see and witness right before our own eyes someone dead, rotting in the grave for four days and now he just walks out of the grave, fully intact? This is unimaginable, unfathomable. But they saw that. But Lazarus who was raised by the Lord Jesus, has another grave in Cyprus. He died again. So, was that the ultimate miracle? No! If raising the dead was the ultimate miracle, well he died again! But what is the ultimate miracle the Lord Jesus did with those who accepted Him as Lord and Savior? He changed their heart. Now the only way for a human to live forever is when the heart is changed and won over to God.

This is what the Lord did.”
