Another Maltese field will be destroyed so that we continue to be ‘adorned’ with the property monster

Another Maltese field will be destroyed so that we are ‘adorned’ with yet another monstrous and ugly bricks building.

This time it is the turn of a field in Mqabba in the Tal-Matla area. This will be the project of the developer Joseph Portelli, whereby 43 apartments and 42 garages will be built, despite the objections of hundreds of residents and NGOs and the concerns of the Local Council. It seems like we have another ‘project green’.

Yet the Planning Authority is expected to approve the project. Does Joseph Portelli have people in the respective authorities which are helping him? Is he another of Labour’s pet?

Who cares that this the little greenery we have left, will be destroyed? Money always talks. But the Authority for the Environment and Resources (ERA) said that the neighbours are to be advised of the works due to the noise that may be caused. This is the way that the residents’ concerns are disrespected. But who cares?

Who cares that when this project is finished, the influx of residents will lead to a disproportionate burden on a quiet area? You are not allowed to live in peace in this country.

In this island, money talks. Your well-being and the environment, do not matter.

But please remember that you can always eat bricks and pay carbon taxes to improve the environment.
