We know that Popes Pius XII, Paul VI, and John Paul II all consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, albeit without mentioning Russia or the USSR specifically.
According to Sister Lcia, the Virgin Mary requested the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart both in 1917 at Fatima and later in 1929 at Pontevedra.
When the request came through, there were three conditions:
That the Holy Father makes the consecration;
That he does so in union with the bishops of the world;
That Russia be consecrated to Mary’s Immaculate Heart.
Pope Pius XII consecrated the entire humanity, including Russia implicitly but not explicitly, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1942. This consecration occurred in response to the reported messages from Jesus and the Virgin Mary received by Alexandrina of Balazar and communicated to her spiritual director, Jesuit priest Mariano Pinho. In 1952, he consecrated “the peoples of Russia” to the Immaculate Heart in Sacro vergente anno, though this was not done in communion with bishops worldwide (as Our Lady of Fátima had requested).
At the conclusion of Vatican II’s third session in 1964, Pope Paul VI also consecrated humanity, and thus implicitly Russia, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Pope John Paul II also consecrated the entire human race to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1981 and 1982.
All previous consecrations were not made in communion and coordination with the world’s Catholic bishops.
Pope John Paul II set out in 1983 to correct any errors in previous consecrations, and on December 8, 1983, he sent a letter to all bishops worldwide, Catholic and Orthodox, inviting them to join him in March 1984 for an Act of Entrustment to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.Before performing the consecration, the pope conferred with Sister Lcia to ensure that Russia’s consecration was valid. On March 25, 1984, however, Pope John Paul II did not mention Russia when he declared an act of consecration of “those men and nations who are especially in need of this entrustment and consecration.”Sister Lcia repeatedly stated after John Paul II’s consecration that the 1984 consecration had been done the way the Virgin Mary wanted it to be.
Then, on March 25, 2022, Pope Francis consecrated Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with both countries mentioned for the first time, as requested by Our Lady at Fatima in one of her apparitions. Traditional Catholics, however, condemned Pope Francis’ use of the text. Pope Francis used the following text in his prayer:
“Therefore, Mother of God and our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine.”
Yet, it is still the belief of most traditional Catholics, that this consecration was never done. It is true that John Paul II consecrated the entire world to Our Lady. However, the request is that Russia specifically be consecrated to the heart of Mary. You might think but if the world is wholly consecrated, that means that Russia is also consecrated. This is also true but then we must be obedient to the words and request of Our Lady. The proper request was for Russia to be consecrated bact at heart and this hasn’t been done yet.
Archbishop Vigano stated: “The failure to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary led to the spread of communism throughout the world. Today we see communism allied with the other sworn enemy of Christianity – liberalism. This infernal alliance is meant to lead to the establishment of the new order in the advent of the anti-Christ. But let’s not forget, that Our Lady had said that before the final persecution, the world will enjoy a period of peace. I think that the great reset and the satanic project of the new order, under the masonic synergy, has not yet managed to impose itself. If we have come very close to I hope and pray that providence is using this pseudo-pandemic to show us the dystopian world that awaits us if we do not return to God, if we persist in offending Him, and violating His commandments, f we deny the divine kingship of Our Lord, preferring instead to live under the tyranny of evil.”
