Malta Today uses the words ‘new born Christian’ in its headline to put the new born Christians, including myself, in a bad light

Eh, the media, the media. It is in a class of its own. It is a pity that it was given too much power, which is being abused of. And it is a double pity that it is followed by the popolin.

Here comes Malta Today which has resorted to a different headline than those of the its ‘media friends’, when it comes to reporting the story of Phylisienne Brincat.

Their article, written by journalist Matthew Farrugia, was given a headline which reads: “Born Again Christian says illness and disability is the result of original sin”. Another manipulative headline that makes you want to puke all day the food that you have eaten in the last month….

Yet again, dear popolin, you have the proof how the media is yet again pushing the anti-Christian agenda, slowly slowly tying you to the anti-God drip ad infinitum. Dear media, you will never win with God. You might think you are, but you will never succeed.

But there is another thing which attracted my attention in this headline. This is the fact that Farrugia used the phrase ‘new born Christian’. To be fair, it is what many religious groups outside the Catholic Church call themselves. And I give this one point to Farrugia and the Malta Today.

And to be, as always, loyal to the truth, I also would like to add that unfortunately, many religious groups around the world tend to come with this prideful notion that they are better than Catholics or other religious groups and only those who attend their groups will be saved. And unfortunately, they tend to describe themselves as being ‘new born’. This is nonsense and this is another divisive tool which I do not like and another reason why I am not part of any local community whether it is religious or of any other sort. At the end of the day, we should all drop labels and names and just believe, follow and live for Christ. Punto e basta.

But, since Malta Today decided to put this phrase in its headline, which is also a phrase which I have used in past blogs, I would like to tell Malta Today, that if they think, even for a millisecond, that they will put me in a bad light or twist information about me which is not truthful, then please note that you will not succeed. When you put on the armour of God, and when God is within you because you accepted Him and chose so, you will not fall, even if for the world’s eyes, you seem to have fallen.

And for the readers’ and popolin’s knowledge, I would like to put this notion across again and clarify: to be a new born Christian means to renew your relationship with Christ every single day. That each morning you vow that you will live for Christ and you will be a role-model for others to follow; that you do good deeds; that you love God, love yourself and your neighbour. Surely, you will fall but you will apologise, repent, confess and restart. This is what it means to be a new born Christian and it is how everyone should be, whether you are an Orthodox, or a Catholic or a Protestant. It surely does not mean to renounce being part of the Catholic Church or whatever, and join another religous group.

This is what Christ meant when he answered a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. When Nicodemus told Jesus “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him,” Jesus replied “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again”. And when Nicodemus did not understand what Jesus meant and asked “How can a man be born when he is old? Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born”, Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit  gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, `You  must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” [John 3 1-9]
