Joe Biden: “If I Were A Jew, I’d Be A Zionist. I Am A Zionist! You Don’t Have To Be A Jew To Be A Zionist”

When Barack Obama was a presidential nominee, he had selected Joe Biden, a Delaware Senator at the time, as his running mate and as the number-two man on the traditionally Jewish-supported Democratic ticket. Many Jews had questioned the Delaware Senator’s views on issues that are important to American Jews.

Here is what Joe Biden said:

“There is this inextricable tie between culture, religion, and ethnicity that most people don’t fully understand; that is unique and, how could I say, so strong with Jews worldwide. There is a, I mean, you know I used to say early on when I was a kid, I’d say when I was a young senator, I say ‘If I were a Jew I’d be a Zionist. I am a Zionist. You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist.”

And here is Joe Biden again, later on, re-stating the same statement, which is quite a big thing for a politician to admit and to have it reported by CNN:

“Were I a Jew, I would be a Zionist. My father pointed it out to me. I didn’t need to be a Jew to be a Zionist. For I am. Israel is essential for the security of Jews worldwide.”

Although the truth comes as a slap in the face, it is always appreciated. How many politicians are not Jewish but are Zionists?
