December 5th will see all Austrians switch to the Digital ID

Austrians are expected to take steps to sign up for the new national digital ID system, ID Austria, as the government deadline for a full switchover from the old era elapses on December 5.”

As the nation looks to the future with a system that will ensure a more seamless and secure access to several government services, Handy-Signatur, the ID platform that citizens currently use to access a number of government services online, is set to phase out, according to an explainer from The Local. Often referred to as a cell phone signature, the Handy-Signatur is compatible with feature phones that have the ability to receive short service messages (SMS).

According to the outlet, 2.8 million people who are still using the Handy-Signatur must switch to ID Austria by December 5 at the latest in order to continue receiving certain government services online. Currently, 1.5 million people use ID Austria. According to the government, ID Austria, which is available to anyone 14 years of age and older, satisfies the highest security and data protection standards and serves as the basis for numerous other applications as well as the nation’s digital ID platform.

Those who have already registered for the Handy-Signatur will find it easier to switch because they will use the same profile to register for ID Austria through the “Digitales Amt” (Digital Office) mobile application.

Nevertheless, using a Handy-Signatur to log in will only grant them access to the ID Austria’s basic features; non-Austrian citizens will not be able to utilize the entire suite of services.

If they don’t already have one, they can make one before registering for an ID Austria or they can register for one right away. In order to have their identity verified for a direct registration, the registrant must physically visit a registration office. For this, you’ll need a passport, residency permit, driver’s license, or passport photo.

According to the government, ID Austria will replace physical copies of credentials like the mobile driver’s license and make identity verification easier in a variety of settings and throughout the nation. The digital ID and mDL were introduced by Austria last year.

ID Austria aims to provide users with fast, simple digital document signing as well as extremely secure access to public and private services. Soon, they’ll be able to use the ID anywhere in the European Union.

The Federal Ministries of Finance and Interior are in charge of the ID Austria project.

The “conspiracy theorists” have first warned of vaccine mandates, vaccine passports, perpetual lockdowns, rampant inflation and microchipping. Now, the same “conspiracy theorists” are warning of digital ID, social credit scores, central bank digital currencies, among others.

Do you think that this digital ID, which is being rolled in various countries, is for your benefit? Don’t you think it fits perfectly in the plan of total control over you?
