On the 24thof February 2021 The New York Post reported that the “FDA backs Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine as safe and effective”.[1]
The article tells us that as it considers whether to approve the shot for emergency use the Food and Drug Administration endorsed Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose coronavirus vaccine as safe and effective.
FDA personnel confirmed J&J’s findings that the vaccine was 85 percent effective at preventing the most serious infections and 66% effective overall at preventing moderate and severe COVID-19 cases.
According to the FDA the roughly 44 000-person clinical trial conducted by New Jersey-based J&J did not reveal any substantial safety issues that would preclude the FDA from authorizing the vaccine for emergency use. Staff members reported that muscle soreness headaches weariness and pain at the injection site were among the “predominantly mild” adverse effects.
Prior to its meeting with its Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee a group of experts who would advise the FDA on whether to approve the J&J vaccine for emergency use the FDA revealed its review of the injection.
Fast forward to May 2022 and Forbes reports that “FDA Limits Use of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Due to Blood Clot Risk”[2]. This is after the same FDA who had approved the same vaccine for emergency use in 2021 announced that the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine is now only approved for U.S. adults who are unable to receive alternative vaccinations citing the Johnson & Johnson vaccine’s risk of potentially fatal blood clotting adverse effects.
The media reports that the FDA said that “Due to the vaccine’s risk of causing thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) a blood-clotting disorder that can cause stroke or heart attack it should not be used unless other vaccines are unavailable or determined to be clinically inappropriate.” It added that “it is far more serious than the usually mild heart inflammationssometimes associated with Pfizer and Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccines.”
And in between these two articles we had citizens trusting these agencies as being the experts who can decide on their behalf what is good for their bodies and going for the J % J vaccines.
